What These 12 Celebrities Have To Say About Their Cosmetic Procedures

The increasing prevalence of social media speculation, and a decreasing stigma against plastic surgery, is prompting many celebrities to come clean about their cosmetic procedures.

Here are some of the Hollywood stars who aren’t afraid to speak out.

Krista Smith Has she or hasn’t she? The increasing prevalence of social media speculation, combined with a decreasing stigma against plastic surgery, is prompting many celebrities to pre-empt the gossip and come clean about their cosmetic procedures. Here are some of the Hollywood stars who aren’t afraid to speak out about their experiences under the knife, needle, and more.

Gisele Bündchen

Once nicknamed “The Boobs from Brazil,” the highly private Bündchen reveals in her memoir that she underwent a breast augmentation in 2015. The supermodel told People magazine that “I was always praised for my body, and I felt like people had expectations from me that I couldn’t deliver.” The effects of nursing two babies took its toll on both her famous physique and her self-esteem. “I felt very vulnerable,” Bündchen confesses, “because I can work out, I can eat healthy, but I can’t change the fact that both of my kids enjoyed the left boob more than the right. All I wanted was for them to be even and for people to stop commenting on it.” After her plastic surgery, however, Bündchen had second thoughts that she overcame with the help of husband Tom Brady: “He just said, ‘I love you no matter what’ and that I looked beautiful,” she wrote. “This was definitely another lesson: What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. But I wish I would have learned that a different way.”

Anna Faris

In her 2017 memoir, the Mom star admits to receiving lip injections and a breast augmentation to address two areas that she’d always felt self-conscious about. Faris wasn’t thrilled with the look of her plumper lips, and after friends pointed out that they were too big, she went back to her natural proportions. But Faris has no regrets about having plastic surgery. The actress says that her role as a Playboy bunny in the film The House Bunny – for which she wore a “heavily, heavily padded bra” – influenced her decision to get breast implants. Faris adds, “I’d recently ended my first marriage and I was clearly going through a year of revolutionary change—independence and a boob job!”

Cardi B

The outspoken New York rapper has been very vocal about becoming a stripper out of high school, and the ensuing pressure she felt to undergo plastic surgery. Cardi B had breast implant surgery at 19, followed by illegal buttock injections because she didn’t have enough body fat to transfer for a Brazilian Butt Lift. In an interview with GQ, she explains, “When I was 21, I did not have enough meat on my body —if I was to get lipo, I wouldn’t have fat for my ass.” Desperate for a solution, the rapper paid a woman $800 to inject filler into her buttocks. “It was the craziest pain ever,” she says. “I felt like I was gonna pass out. I felt a little dizzy. And it leaks for, like, five days.” Despite the pain and risks, the singer made an attempt to go back for a touch up, “But by the time I was gonna go get it, the lady got locked up ’cause she’s supposedly killed somebody.” More recently, the rapper reveals her duct-taped breasts in a viral Instagram video, lamenting that breastfeeding her baby had devastated her curves – and unabashedly announcing that she’d be seeking more plastic surgery to restore their pre-pregnancy shape.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Although known for her holistic beauty philosophy, Paltrow is not averse to trying the latest skin care technologies. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she explains: “You know, I use organic products, but I get lasers. It’s what makes life interesting, finding the balance between cigarettes and tofu.” The actress has tried a variety of non-invasive tweakments, including Thermage, which she describes as “quite painful. It feels like someone’s smacking your face with a rubber band that has an electric shock in it. But I would do it again, because I feel like it took five years off my face.” Paltrow is characteristically open-minded about combating the visible signs of aging. “I’ve probably tried everything,” she reveals. “I would be scared to go under the knife, but you know, talk to me when I’m 50. I’ll try anything.”

Chrissy Teigen

Teigen has never shied away from a discussion about having realistic beauty standards, and her own struggles with her body image. “Honestly, I don’t ever have to be in a swimsuit again,” she tells Women’s Health. “Since I was 20 years old, I had this weight in my mind that I am, or that I’m supposed to be. I’ve been so used to that number for 10 years now. And then I started realizing it was a swimsuit-model weight. There’s a very big difference between wanting to be that kind of fit and wanting to be happy-fit.” The model and TV host admits to undergoing liposuction to reduce the pocket of fat protruding from her underarm crease: “I had an armpit sucked out, which was one of the best things. It’s a big secret, but I don’t care. It was nine years ago or so. And I had two inches to my armpit. Now it’s back though, so now I’ve gotta pay for liposuctionagain. It was so easy,” Teigen says. “It made me feel better in dresses; I felt more confident. It was the dumbest, stupidest thing I’ve ever done. The dumbest, but I like it, whatever. I have no regrets, honestly.”

Katy Perry

The pop icon receives more than her share of tabloid celebrity plastic surgery speculation, but Perry clears up the rumors in an interview with Refinery29. “I haven’t had any,” she declares. “I’ve done lasers and got fillerinjections under my eyes for the hollowing — which I’d recommend for everyone who wants a solution for their dark circles — but all of my assets are real. People tend to think they are fake, but it doesn’t really matter.” Not surprisingly, the singer has no judgments regarding both cosmetic procedures: “We’re getting away from that negative stigma about physical alterations. Of course, always be your authentic self — but if someone wants a nose job that makes them feel better, and they love their profile more because of it, it’s like ‘Go ahead!’ Do whatever makes you feel better about yourself.”

Iggy Azalea

Australian hip hop star Iggy Azalea isn’t afraid to discuss her cosmetic surgeries, which include a rhinoplasty and a breast augmentation. Talking to Seventeen magazine about her nose job, Azalea says: “I’m not denying it. Denying it is lame.” The singer did her due diligence prior to going under the knife, deliberating about her decision and thoroughly researching plastic surgeons. When asked during a Vogue interview if she’d ever change anything about her body, she reveals, “I did change something: Four months ago, I got bigger boobs! I’d thought about it my entire life.” The star was tired of altering and padding her stage outfits, but initially kept the procedure a secret to avoid speculation, and the possibility of unduly influencing her young fan base. Azalea reconsidered and decided to publicize her plastic surgery, telling E!, “I love them so much I had to talk about them.” The singer doesn’t regret her decision to come clean: “I’d feel better not to have some secret,” she said. “It’s much freer to say it and then you don’t have to worry someone will dig it up.” The star has some words of advice for those considering cosmetic procedures: “Plastic surgery is an emotional journey,” she says. “It’s no easy feat to live with your flaws and accept yourself—and it’s no easy feat to change yourself. Either way you look at it, it’s a tough journey. There are things that I didn’t like about myself that I changed through surgery. There are other things I dislike but I’ve learned to accept.”

Kourtney Kardashian

The eldest Kardashian sister, who is rumored to have had multiple facial procedures including fillers and a brow lift, has always been outspoken about her breast augmentation at age 22. “I have had breast implants, but it’s so funny ’cause it’s not a secret, I could care less,” she tells Nightline during a 2010 interview with sisters Kim and Khloe. The reality star does regret having the procedure so young: “I had my boobs done but if I could go back, I wouldn’t have done it. I was so cute before,” she reveals to Showbiz Spy in 2011. “I’ve realized that I was made to look a certain way and I’m considering removing them.” It seems clear from her myriad bikini-clad photographs that she’s decided to keep her fuller figure, at least for now.

Kaley Cuoco

The Big Bang Theory star has been refreshingly honest about her various cosmetic procedures, including her nose job. “Years ago, I had my nose done,” she tells Women’s Health. “And my boobs—best thing I ever did. Recently I had filler in a line in my neck I’ve had since I was 12. As much as you want to love your inner self. . .I’m sorry, you also want to look good. I don’t think you should do it for a man or anyone else, but if it makes you feel confident, that’s amazing.”

Courteney Cox

“I feel like I’m 34, so the thought that I’m not just doesn’t seem natural,” the actress confesses to New Beauty. “I don’t get it. I feel better than I’ve ever felt in my entire life. I take much better care of myself now. But Hollywood—this business—makes it harder. I grew up thinking that appearance was the most important thing. I was trying so hard to keep up, and I actually made things worse.” The Friends and Cougar Town alum talks candidly about getting caught up in a cycle of overusing facial filler: “The next thing you know, you’re layered and layered and layered. You have no idea because it’s gradual until you go, ‘This doesn’t look right.’” These days, Cox says, she’s “all natural” after having her fillers dissolved – relying instead on non-injectable facial treatments like lasers and microneedling. She’s learned to accept the signs of aging as part of life. “Those aren’t wrinkles,” Cox says, “they’re smile lines.”

Christie Brinkley

The legendary model, now in her mid-60s, credits her ageless looks to clean living – but has also admitted to relying on fillers and other non-invasive skin tightening treatments. “I wondered if people would think I’m phony and fake,” Brinkley tells People magazine. “But it’s better to be honest and say, ‘Yeah, this is what I do.’” Brinkley is a spokesperson for Xeomin, an anti-wrinkle neurotoxin, and Ultherapy, a non-surgical face tightening technology. While it’s important to the model “never to look different,” she isn’t opposed to seeking aesthetic intervention: “At a certain point, you might need a little something extra. When I look in the mirror, I want to feel like I look as good as I feel. And if you can have something done to feel more confident and better about yourself, then you feel like your face matches your spirit—and my spirit is enthusiastic and energetic.”

It’s all about the hair , the make up and Style on @americanbeautystar TONIGHT at 10:00 on @lifetimetv 💄🌟 But As the conversation has taken a turn… here’s my quick answer …”I have been a Vegan for long periods of my life as I have been every type of Vegetarian for over 50 years …I am currently a Vegetarian with a mainly Vegan diet . I did say in interviews that I am an “aspiring Vegan” My diet mostly consists of organic fruits vegetables and grains and beans . I do however have the occasional mozzarella and or Parmesan as I LOVE Italian food. So that’s it in a nutshell, which i eat a lot of too !! PS I think it’s great to share the numerous benefits of a Vegan/Vegetarian diet.. but attacting people for enjoying an oyster or a slice of pizza or having leather purse ( that’s not even leather) is a bad tactic that makes all of us Vegetarians look bad. Always Accentuate the positive right? 🍒

Ariel Winter

As a teenager in the Hollywood spotlight, Winter became increasingly uncomfortable – both emotionally and physically – with the size of her breasts. Swimsuit shopping was a nightmare, and the Modern Family star had trouble finding age-appropriate clothing for the red carpet. As she reveals to Glamour magazine, terrible back pain and worsening spine issues finally prompted Winter to undergo breast reduction plastic surgery at age 17. “I didn’t want to not tell anybody and then have another million stories say, “What happened to Ariel? She looks so different,” she says. “And I also think there’s some good that can come from tellingmy story. It’s something that I did to better my life and better my health and I think that that can benefit a lot of young girls. I have felt more happy with myself than I ever have.”
