Google has held its annual developer conference in San Francisco. The event, of great popularity, has meant the presentation of great innovations for the company, but especially for Google Cloud, Google’s cloud service. We analyze the keys of the most important changes within the platform.

New name for the platform: Anthos

The Google Cloud service platform has a new name: Anthos. This platform, which allows companies to manage apps within the private data centers and the Google cloud, will now also have support for AWS and Azure, competitors of Google Cloud.

This will allow companies to use Anthos to manage the apps in any of the cloud services. In addition, the platform will give companies a single invoice and a single dashboard to manage their apps and, in this way, customers can control all their accounts in the cloud from the same site.

Open source integrations for Google Cloud Console

Google has announced that from now on it will integrate open source products in the cloud. The developers will act as primary providers of Google customers, facilitating the work of users who, in most cases, already used open source products externally. Companies like Confluent, DataStax, Elastic, InfluxData, MongoDB, Neo4j and Redis Labs are already joining the Google cloud and it is expected that in the near future the number of partners will increase.

In this sense, the integration of open source services is a great competitive advantage over its competitor AWS, who has received many criticisms in the past for the appropriation and management of these open source services without the companies’ consent. This gives Google the confidence of the developers, that is, the companies, as well as the customers, who now find a fusion of services that saves them the work of turning to external sources to meet their needs.

Changes in the Google Artificial Intelligence platform

The secret weapon of the innovations of Google is, without a doubt, the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence. In the past the company already offered a variety of tools developed with artificial intelligence. However, the new Artificial Intelligence platform allows more direct contact between developers and platforms. This will allow Google Cloud developers to create and test their own models within the platform, thus streamlining the improvement processes.

Launch of Google Cloud Code

Cloud Code is a set of plugins and extensions that the platform has enabled for IDEs, which are interfaces for the connection of mass storage devices. Through these IDE, Google allows its developers to create apps specifically designed for the cloud.

With Cloud Code, developers can create apps as usual, but then these will be optimized to be launched as cloud apps. This greatly simplifies the work of developers and streamlines the production process, which was previously delayed by the difficulties of working with the format used in Google Cloud.

Although these are just some of the innovations announced by the company, it is possible to recognize the attempts of Google to strengthen the relationship with its customers by facilitating the way in which they interact with the different cloud storage services.

In addition, these new tools are a step beyond the attempts of Google Cloud to improve the security of the platform and now also seek to bring simplicity and practicality to it.
