Getting in shape and, in addition, earning some money seems unthinkable. But Sweatcoin offers the user that possibility. This application pays in digital currency for walking or running in outdoor places.

“The user of Sweatcoin can buy products and services by his steps.”

The application has been on the market for a while, but it has arrived in Spain a few days ago. It has more than 10 million downloads and has positioned itself as the most purchased on Google Play during this last week. Even ahead of WhatsApp or Brawl Stars. In addition to being able to download on Android and iOS, it is compatible with Apple Watch.

How does it work? The user acquires a quantity of money according to the steps he takes, the more steps, the more money. This benefit will be translated into a digital currency called sweatcoins, which can only be used in the store of the application itself.

Among the products and services offered by the Sweatcoin store are subscriptions to entertainment platforms and music such as TIDAL, online training, or even an iPhone XS or the GoPro Hero 7 Black.

To get these “points”, the user must keep the GPS active so that it correctly calculates the steps, and you should always keep in mind that it only records the path in the open air … so it is not worth walking around the house to do more kilometers.

When the user has completed the data and activated all the functions required by the application, you can start earning sweatcoins. The change is simple, for every 1,000 steps, Sweatcoin will enter in the user profile 0.95 sweatcoins. In addition, the application integrates various promotions thanks to which you can add a few coins to the account, and the same happens when viewing advertising.

The free version has a benefit limit of sweatcoins, daily and monthly. But paying a monthly fee can extend that limit to a maximum of 20 sweatcoins per day or up to 600 per month.

The inconvenients?

The battery usage of the application is quite high, although it adds the option of saving mode for when the user is not walking. Another disadvantage of the application is that it remains as a persistent notification in the background. And of course, the fact that it constantly collects data about the user’s location.
