For months we have been talking about TikTok as a new social boom, but the figures that the mobile application already uses with social dyes that allows us to make funny videos to the rhythm of music are to be taken seriously, very seriously.
The app, owned by the Chinese conglomerate ByteDance, was not only the most downloaded social network application in the world in the last quarter of 2018, surpassing Facebook and YouTube – although it must be taken into account that these are installed by default in many mobile phones – but managed to close the year surpassing the 130 million users worldwide.
“TikTok has already been downloaded 1 billion times around the world.”
Mainly are young people between 13 and 18 years who use this application that requires a new way of communicating, much more creative, with music as a protagonist and hundreds of daily challenges that are what motivate their users to create new content and to follow the tiktokers, the influencers on this platform. In addition, its users are completely hooked to it: the average daily time spent in TikTok is 31 minutes, while the interaction rates are also considerably higher than in other social networks.
Now, the Sensor Tower analysis company has thrown more data in a report prepared on TikTok that will show the growth that the application is registering in the last months.
According to the data handled by the study, which has analyzed the number of installations of the app on iOS and Android, the app’s 1,000 million downloads have already been exceeded worldwide. Although the number of downloads does not mean that they are new users, it does show the existing – and growing – interest in the application.
On the other hand, the report details that only in the month of January TikTok won more than 71 million new users around the world. In these numbers, in addition, the facilities of the Chinese version of TikTok for Android are not included, since in the local market it is called Douyin and there are no data about it.
TikTok increasingly attracts the attention of social network users… but also of companies, given their potential for growth. In fact Facebook, seen the success of the application, has recently launched Lasso, a clone of TikTok that has not yet achieved much impact. Snapchat, an eminently millennial app, has also recently incorporated TikTok features.
