Instagram has updated its API, and among the changes made, the possibility of programming videos from external apps is included. Until now, it was only allowed to schedule publications with an image. Videos and publications with more than one image were beyond the reach of social media management apps.
“The Instagram API for Business members will allow social media management apps to schedule videos for the platform.”
Like the programming of photos, the programming of videos through the API will only be available for Instagram Marketing Partners members through the beta of Content Publishing API.
Apps like Buffer, Hootsuite or Social Report (which are the most used) are part of this program, so this option will soon reach them if not available yet.
The option (again, as with photo programming) to schedule videos through social media management apps will only be available for Instagram Bussiness profiles. In addition, you can not upload any video, but the files must meet the following requirements:
-The video must be in MOV or MP4 format.
-The audio codec must be AAC at 48khz, both in mono and stereo.
-The video codec must be HEVC or H264.
-It must have between 23 and 60 frames per second.
-The maximum weight of the video is 100 MB, and the duration must be between three seconds and one minute.
