WhatsApp launched in January 2018, just now a year ago, WhatsApp Business, the instant messaging app designed for small businesses. At the moment, it is an application available only for mobile phones with Android operating system. Although the company announced months ago that it was “ready” to release the iOS version, it has not been released at the moment.

“WhatsApp Business is only available for Android devices.”

It is a free application, although it is possible that in the future WhatsApp launches specific functionalities that suppose a cost for the companies. To download it, you just have to download “WhatsApp Business (WhatsApp for Business) in the Google Play Store.

Once downloaded you have to verify the phone number of the company, because this will be the number that will be used to talk with customers. If you have already been using a WhatsApp account, you can transfer the entire chat history to the new WhatsApp Business account. Of course, it is better to make a manual backup of them before continuing, just in case.

Keep in mind that in the same phone you can use the standard version of WhatsApp and the business version -WhatsApp Business- but that each of them will have to be using a different phone number. It is not possible to have both applications running at the same time with the same phone number.

Therefore, it is recommended to use a landline to link it to WhatsApp Business. This is the most recommended. When consigned, WhatsApp makes a phone call to that number to confirm it, and so, you can use the landline to use WhatsApp Business from your mobile phone (whose number will use WhatsApp Personal)

Once this is done, it is time to write the name of the company (this is important to verify that it has been done well, as it can not be changed later) and to start creating the corporate profile on WhatsApp.

To do this, go to the Main Menu, and there, to Settings / Company Settings / Edit Company Profile. It will be time to record the company’s website, your phone number, email, location … and write a short description of it.

For large companies, WhatsApp offers its API, which will allow the integration of the service on its website and carry out specific developments such as the creation of personalized chatbots to manage customer service with users.
